Rules and tournament format
All games in the WCT Elite group stage are played over 8 ends and can end in a draw (i.e. no extra ends are played in the groups stage). Win; 2 points, draw; 1 point, loss; 0 points. All playoff games will be played until decided (i.e. extra ends if needed). The QF, SF, bronse and final will be played over 8 ends.
All games in the BWM Open group stage are played over 6 ends and can end in a draw (i.e. no extra ends are played in the groups stage). Win; 2 points, draw; 1 point, loss; 0 points. All playoff games will be played until decided (i.e. extra ends if needed). The QF, SF, bronse and final will be played over 8 ends.
16 teams are drawn into 4 groups (Two WCT Elite groups and two BWM Open groups) and each team will play 3 games in the group stage.
Based on all group stage results a combined table, one for WCT Elite and one for BWM Open will be made where:
Teams 1-2 are qualified for the semifinals.
Teams 3-6 are qualified for the quarter finals.
Teams 7-8 are relegated.
Ranking in the group stage is based on:
1. Most points.
2. Total (lowest) score in the LSD-draws.
The second round consists of; quarter final, semi-final and final. Losing teams in the quarter final are relegated.
Before each group stage game each player is allowed one practice stone. Then each player will draw one stone each for LSD-measurement. The first one clockwise and the second one counter-clockwise. Teams with yellow stones practices and draws first. Lowest LSD score qualifies for the hammer in the first end. The practice and LSD start 5 minutes before the schedules game start.
Stone colors for the groups stage are noted in the programme (first listed team plays yellow, second plays blue). For the playoffs, stone colors are assigned by the tournament management. Best ranked team after the group stage has the hammer in the playoff games.
The Swedish curling rules (”SCFs regler och tävlingsbestämmelser”) are applied unless otherwise stated (this includes the use of WCF approved sweeping equipment). Game timing will not be used during this tournament.
The top 4 teams in each part of the tournament will be awarded prize money as follows:
